Year 5 visit to Parliament
A post in our latest news section.
Our Year 5 children made our annual visit to Parliament. They had a slightly different day to what was planned due to the Kings guards and bands practicing for a state visit. The children got to witness this which meant they also saw the Sovereign car and the Kings Golden carriage which were a part of the procession. In Parliament, we were treated to a question and answer session with The Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson MP, who is now Secretary of State for Education as well as being our local MP for Houghton and Sunderland South. We were extremely grateful to Bridget for giving us time in her very busy schedule. Whilst in Parliament, we witnessed a new law being made – this is something very rarely witnessed by members of the public. Such a special day all round!! The children were amazing. We are so proud of them. They were a credit to their parents and our school.
