Pastoral House Groups

At Our Lady Queen of Peace we have allocated house groups. The house groups are named after Saints.

Children from every year group, from Nursery to Year 6 are allocated a house group. Siblings are in the same house group together. These are led by one of our teaching staff.

Our house groups foster a sense of belonging, kindness, teamwork and achievement for every child in school.

In Year 6 children put themselves forward for the role of Captain or Vice-Captain for their house group. The children make a statement of case why they should be given this role and are voted by their peers in the house group.

Children earn house points every day in school for good behaviour, kindness, following school rules, working hard in class, homework, excellent manners and politeness. Each fortnight the house group with the most points is awarded the house trophy to display in the hall. They also receive 5 minutes extra play!

Our house groups meet once a half term to complete activities together. This may include, making Easter cards for our local care homes and the housebound members of our parish or learning more about important themes such as anti-bullying and friendship.

Every year, we complete our CAFOD Big Lent Walk in our house groups too. The older children really enjoy walking with their younger peers.
