Safeguarding information about our school.
Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school. We believe all staff and visitors have an important and unique role to play in child protection.

We actively support the Government’s Prevent agenda to counter radicalisation and extremism.
Our designated safeguarding lead is: Mrs Claire Garbutt (Headteacher)
She is assisted by deputy designated safeguarding leads: Mrs Kelly Lamond (Deputy Headteacher) and Mrs Ruth Fish (SENDCO).
The governor with responsibility for safeguarding is Mr Brendan Robson.

We work closely with Clennell Educational Solutions to ensure that our policies and practices fulfil our safeguarding responsibilities and reflect recent legislation and/or updated guidance. We carry out an annual audit of all aspects of safeguarding which feeds into to our annual safeguarding action plan. This is reviewed termly in conjunction with our safeguarding consultant.
We work closely with external agencies to support the needs of our children: Together for Children, NSPCC, Social Services, School Health Team, The Road Centre
All staff and governors receive regular updates and training and are aware of the procedures for reporting concerns within school.
If any members of our school or local community, or visitors, have concerns about the welfare of a child in school, they are asked to report them directly to the safeguarding team listed above.
